Today, after a hearty Christmas breakfast at La Carreta Restaurant, I observed three adult Bronzed Cowbirds on the ground among the couple hundred Boat-tailed Grackles feeding behind the restaurant. Their smaller size made them stand out. Although I did not have my binoculars, the birds allowed close approach, and I could see their bright red eyes.
The restaurant is situated in a shopping center plaza at 40th St (Bird Road) and 87th Avenue (Galloway Road). The birds were observed at 1:40-1:50pm.
