Also can anyone tell me which of these parakeets are found in South Miami between Apache and Wren: Crimson-fronted Parakeet or Red-fronted Parakeet.
: The result will be a lifer.
Crimson-fronted and Red-fronted Parakeets are both found in the Miami Springs area. The Red-fronted or Aratinga wagleri is larger, almost as big as the Mitred Parakeet. The Crimson-fronted or Aratinga finschi is about the size of a Monk Parakeet. The best way to tell the difference between the two is the underwing coverts. The Crimson-fronted has red and yellow under the wing, while the underwing of the Red-fronted is all green. The red and sometimes the yellow can be seen on the bend of the wing when the Crimson-fronted is perched.
