Black-hooded Parakeets (aka Nanday Conures) have been found in SW Dade County for many years, and have apparently bred. I have a small resident flock in my neighborhood, and have had a flock as large as 30+ in fruiting trees in my yard. I have also seen juvenile begging behavior indicative of breeding.
I have also found them in Ft Lauderdale and Pompano, in Key Largo, and I have seen flocks from Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Boynton. They appear to be increasing in Florida.
