The Tropical Kingbird greeted me as I walked down the path towards the pond at Dump Marsh around noon; it was on the barbed wire fence next to the Loggerhead Shrike, who promptly dived down for a lunch that it gobbled as it posed for my camera. The Snow Goose flew out of the pond and east about 20 minutes later. No sign of blackbirds or a cowbird flock.
In Homestead, I was extremely happy to find 6 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers (Life Bird!) and a Western Kingbird at SW 312 Street and SW 214 Ave. At one point, the WEKI, an adult STFL, and a Palm Warbler were poised on the fence in a row. And then they all flew off. I drove around the area for about a half-hour, but there were no flycatchers to be seen, perhaps because of a Broad-winged Hawk nearby.
Earlier in the day I trolled the Kendall area looking for Bulbuls, but found instead 2 Hill Mynas on a wire on the north side of SW 88 St. and what I think were Mitred Parakeets in a tree on the hospital grounds.
