We birded Black Point Jetty this morning hoping to scope out Horned Grebe or Purple Sandpiper. After scanning the water for a little while we found two Horned Grebes, the Grebes were off to the Northeast of the jetty. We also had three Red-breasted Merganser out in the bay feeding actively. One Franklin's Gull was out on the west side of the jetty along with lots of Laughing some Herring, Lesser Black-backed, and Ring-billed Gulls. Six Ruddy Turnstones flew in right in front of us getting our heart rate up for a minute but no Purple Sandpiper was with them. It was nice birding the jetty today, the sun was covered a bit by the clouds making for some cormfortable weather. The water was flat as glass allowing for some real nice views of the Horned Grebes, perfect scoping conditions. Several fighter jets and one C130 cargo jet were flying around almost the whole time we were there which was awesome.
On the way back home we stopped at Cutler Wetlands where a beautiful Harrier perched up for some photos. There were some Blue-wing and Green-wing Teals around, two Northern Pintails, Mottled Duck, and one Shoveler in the wetlands as well.
We celebrated the Horned Grebes with Toe who treated us to a Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale and IPA, thanks Toe!

Nature is Awesome
