Both of those flycatchers are very unlikely at that time of year. The Least Flycatchers especially, and I know that you did not see that.
The discription also tells it was not a pheobe.
The discription of the bird's head of gray on top, and the dark line from the eye along with the white line between the eye and head tells me it was a vireo. Even though in many books vireos appear to be "plump", they are often kinda skinny looking when seen in the field. Their wings are both gray on top and on the bottom. Their tails are a light yellow. The most common bird that you might of seen was a vireo. What might help is if you heard a call. Sice you live near Matheson and alot of areas with mangroves, I would say vireo.
