Hello, Today has been a very intersting day at my 4 acre backyard. First of all I've been seeing and hearing constantly every day a Red-Whickered Bulubul (possibly with its young). I thought I was never going to see one of those birds but now I've seen them every single day. Also a species of ficus has been producing many interesting birds. On that tree there are two nest boxes. One occupied with a pair of european starlings and the other with a pair of red-bellied woodpeckers. I saw many species of birds eating from the ficus. The birds I saw eating berries there were:
Spot-breasted Oriole
European Starling
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Red-whickered Bulubul
Blue Jay
Mockingbirds
Yellow-chevroned parakeets
Cardinals
On the other huge ficus there was a white-crowned pigeon perched on the top of the tree. On a shade tree there were four juvenile mockingbirds and blue jays. Also the red-whickered bulubul. Also I had a chance to see a molting european starling. Also I saw an Anhinga soring in the sky. O yeah, also Brown Thrashers were around. Hey Bob Kelly, looks like theBrown Thrashers had a great breeding season in our area.
Last winter I must say I saw many hawks but didin't identify them. Also I saw kestrals about 3 times a week perched on the tops of palm trees.
Really I started birding for warblers and migrants on late march and saw many birds with the help from many other birders. This year I'm going to parks as early as late august. I'll update anything interesting around my backyard. Thats about it. Great birding!
