I had the opportunity to head to ENP on Monday afternoon to look for the Rusty Blackbird. I arrived at 3:15pm but the bird was not there; it finally showed up at about 4:30pm right where the shorter grass starts as you come into the parking area. It remained there despite the passage of at least 5 cars close by.
While searching for the blackbird, I also found a Vesper Sparrow in the hammocky patch near the culvert, in the same area where the blackbird later showed up.
As the sun waned, I tried the LeConte's Sparrow area, and managed to scare up a Grasshopper Sparrow, but no LeConte's. Still, no disappointment in seeing 1 state bird, and an unexpected county bird as well.
