Today before class, I went off to A.D. Barnes Park to see what birds were around. The answer was: Plenty! I spent a couple hours crisscrossing the park, although most of the birds were in the forested area near the entrance to the park. Birds included an eclectic mix of fall migrants (late? overwintering?) and winter visitors (plus residents).

Highlights included a Summer Tanager amongst a large feeding flock which included Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue-headed Vireo, several Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Magnolia Warbler, a pair of Baltimore Orioles, and regulars near the entrance to the trail. Also, a very drab looking Cape May Warbler near the cabin at the other end of the trail. A Broad-winged Hawk was soaring high above in the thermals along with many Turkey Vultures and several Black Vultures.

I include everything I saw:

Muscovy Duck: 3
White Ibis: 4
Common Moorhen: 4
American Coot: 1
