This afternoon, following the STA 5 field trip, I was heading back to Bonita Beach when I came upon, what to me, was an amazing assembledge of Tyrant Flycatchers. They were located on CR 835 three miles north of its intersection with CR 833 in Hendry County. They were on the opposite (east) side of the road from the canal. I first saw Western Kingbirds, but as I scanned the birds, the number of birds and number of species increased. I had a total of 9 Western Kingbirds, 3 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, 1 Gray Kingbird (latest date I have ever seen one) and 1 Cassin's Kingbird!! I notified my friend Ed DeBellvue who was traveling north on 835. He headed south and an hour later called me that he had gotten the birds. He also notified Margaret England and the group who were going to come try for them. Hopefully they got them as well. The Cassin's was quite distinct from the Westerns, very gray head and breast and very white throat patch. (no white outer tail feathers) Great bird! John Haas
