Tropical King Is the Thing

Both Tropical Kingbirds were actively feeding and calling near Dump Marsh between 7:30 and 8:00 this morning. They kept moving between the wires near the road barrier and the royal palms on the other side of SW 248th; they were also in the tall grass along on the north side of the canal.

At Cutler Wetlands, the very pale Greater Flamingo was readily viewable. While it spent much time on one leg with its head buried, it also walked around some and preened. After preening a while, it would extend its neck and open its bill as if calling. Don't know if it was actually vocalizing, as I was too far away to hear. It had no leg bands.

In the small lake east of Cutler Wetlands, there was what appeared to be a Spectacled Caiman floating at the surface (had to get my herp fix).
