The FOSRC has received one submission for the "dump marsh" Tropical Kingbird (by Larry Manfredi, with photo), but it would be great to received more. Especially nice would be any sound recordings (remember that many digital cameras have a movie function and you can get bad but identifiable recordings of vocalizations). I think it is great when the original finder submits documentation (hint, Roberto), so that they get the proper acknowledgment they deserve.
Three of the last four Tropical/Couch's Kingbirds found in Florida were non-vocalizing, so it is nice to get one that was. Couch's and Tropical kingbirds are largely indistinguishable in the field without vocalizations or real good looks at wing formulae. Couch's Kingbirds have yet to be verified from the State, but vocalizing Couch's have appeared here in the past and were even accepted by the FOSRC. When the FOSRC adopted Robertson & Woolfenden as the baseline list, Couch's was dropped because there are no recordings available.
Please visit the FOSRC website (http://www.fosbirds.org/RecordCommittee/FOSRC.php) for forms and remember to describe the vocalizations. Photos and recordings can be sent to me as attachments.
