I am pleased to report that peewee, our itinerant ruby throated hummingbird has made repeated appearances in our backyard these last few weeks; the neighborhood screech owl is vocal whenever I leave my house before dawn to fish, and-a first in my two years at this location-a painted bunting(no doubt confused as to the location of Barnes Park, a mile distant) splashed through our birdbath.(too quickly for me to get out my camera).

I have finally posted my photos--good bad and indifferent-from my second trip(3 weeks ago) to Peru.Identifications are being added daily. Since our webmaster deletes my foreign bird pictures(TAS immigration policy), you'll have to go to the enclosed link to view them--click on the Peru II set...

Lastly, this year's program and registration information for January's 2009 Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival has been posted on their website(http://www.nbbd.com/fly/index.html).
I attended last year and enjoyed myself immensely, and learned much from the workshops I attended, but was closed out of some because I procrastinated about registering. There are some wonderful seminars, field trips and workshops offered this year.Hopefully I will see some of you at the Festival. And, perhaps in contradistinction to the aforementioned "wonderful seminars",I have offered my services to the organizers, who foolishly agreed to let me give a (free, thankfully)talk on the practicalities of getting into and doing bird/wildlife photography.
