The arrival of the American Birds Christmas Count Issue reminds me that it s time to start preparing for the 2008 KENDALL CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT, scheduled this year for SATURDAY, DECEMBER 27TH .

Volunteers are needed to help survey the count area, which runs roughly from Bird Road south to Black Point, and from the Bay over to SW 142nd Avenue. We can also use feeder and yard watchers!

Last year, we tallied 133 species (+ 10 exotics), a new count record. The count had the highest numbers in the entire nation for 7 different species: Short-tailed Hawk, Cape May Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Shiny Cowbird, Sacred Ibis, Mitred Parakeet and Hill Myna!

Birders of ALL experience levels are needed, and even if you only watch your feeders, your input can be a substantial help. If you are interested in participating, PLEASE email me as soon as you can at:

Thanks for your help!
