I went out kayaking Snake Bight this morning to try and see the Flamingos. Saw 5 and tons of roseates. The flamingos are not skittish at all, and I was able to get close, at least compared to most other species out there.
I will add, if anyone attempts to kayak up into it, as was previously mentioned, watch the water and your depth. I had to go pretty far up into the bight, and the water drops quite fast. I hit it just past high tide and I would suggest trying to go up in a rising tide.
I also saw 2, maybe 3 bald eagles, and a small tern species i would like someone to identify for me.
Photos, and a more detailed write-up on my blog.
