Got up this morning to check out Lucky Hammock. Have not been there in a while and have seen good reports lately. I also needed to add to my Florida sparrow sightings. I only have Chipping and Lark Sparrows for Florida. Yes, quite embarrasing. It was a good morning for me. Anyway, saw the following at the Hammock and adjacent areas:
White Ibis
Sandhill Crane
Greater Yellowlegs
Killdeer
Kestrel (abundant)
N. Harrier
Bald Eagle (immature)
Swainson's Hawk (2 of them and lifers)
Sharp-Shinned Hawk
Cooper's Hawk
Red-Shouldered Hawk
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Mourning Dove
Common Ground Dove
Collared Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Eastern Phoebe
Western Kingbirds (2 of them, my first for Florida)
Loggerhead Shrike
Blue Jay
American Crow
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Gray Catbird
Mockingbird
Brown Thrasher
European Starling
Palm Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Indigo Bunting (females and a lifer)
Painted Bunting (females)
Savannah Sparrow (lifer)
Grasshopper Sparrow (lifer)
Common Grackle
Boat-Tailed Grackle
4 lifers and a first for Florida. Great morning!!!
