Sunday, I saw a catbird in the same tree that I took the photos last spring, and then in the ixoras under my window. So they do hang around my house after all. There is little doubt now, in my mind, that the bird impaled on the black olive thorn last spring or winter must have been a catbird. How a shrike killed and impaled that catbird, I don't know.
