Harbringers of Winter- Pensacola Area

Be on the look out for wintering birds in south Florida. On the University of West Florida's campus alone in the past week,
I've seen two Golden-crowned Kinglets, and both Swamp and White-throated Sparrows. American Robins are already flying over in large flocks, and so are Yellow-rumped Warblers.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Blue-headed Vireos have been around for quite some time. With this front (it will be in the 30s tonight over here) coming through, birds should be showing up in SoFL in larger numbers.

It was a fairly dull fall on the Gulf, and it seemed that most of the migrants ended up in the Atlantic flyway this October. I had fewer birds this year than last fall in Pensacola. Lets hope some good stuff shows up this winter.
