This morning in the FIU ecopreserve I saw a bird that I have been unable to ID (actually two birds, one was a flycatcher, though, so I wont even try). The bird was roughly warbler sized, had a bit of a crest, a beak roughly like that of a junco, was light reddish brown all over, except for blue-gray on the edge of the shoulder and also on the edge of the wing further down. Also had blue-gray tail feathers and blue gray streaking on the breast. I am saying "blue-gray," but in the right light all of these blue-gray markings looked a stunning blue.
Nothing else too exciting seen in the preserve:
Gray catbirds
Painted bunting (f)
Common yellowthroats
Prairie warblers
Black-throated blues
Am. Redstart
Palm warblers
and the usual Monk parakeets
