I'm delighted that Carl obtained conclusive photos of this bird! Way to go Carl. When we first saw it, both Alan Murray and I commented on the fieldmarks but we weren't sure and vacillated too much between Western & Cassin's Kingbird ultimately opting to be conservative and call it a Western. The bird flew after less than a minute when we initially saw it and that's when Carl & his friend decided to chase it and obtain the photo. The rest of us finished the tour. This may be the same bird that was initially seen and photographed on April 15, 2006 by Matt Pike & then subsequently on last year's first Hendry-Glades CBC. The general area seems to be along the Deer Fence Canal in the vicinity of Chuck Obern's Oraganic Farm off of CR835. Hopefully, this bird will remain all winter. Again thanks to Carl for obtaining the photo and to Larry Manfredi for properly IDing the bird. BTW, for what it's worth, Bruce Anderson also concurs that this is a CAKI. This makes species 164 for the STA-5 checklist!
