While birding Barnes on Saturday we ran into two women who were busily slaughtering a live rooster, in broad daylight, which they then strung up in a palm tree. It was a terrible and frightening encounter. I snapped a whole bunch of pictures, which did not please the women, including of them getting into their car. I then passed the info on to the park manager, who would like to see an end to this kind of thing, but apparently has few means of doing so. I think, for those of us who carry cameras, the least we can do is snap photos. This could eventually be somewhat of an effective deterrent, at least in some cases. I, for one, don't care at all about hexes or spells or anything being cast on me. At the very least these individuals can be charged with dumping, which does carry a fine (the park manager is looking into this).
Also: they are making some progress with the cat situation, the manager assured me.
