: They have been nesting in the coastal hammocks
(Matheson and Charles Deering) for at least 20 years, but in the past few years(after Hurricane Andrew) they have been nesting in A.D. Barnes Park and the University of Miami campus and in the nearby urban areas. A pair nested in a Sabal Palm next to the University of Miami Metrorail
Station last year. I see them almost every day in my neighborhood in High Pines(SW55th Ave and SW78th Street). This was not true 5 years ago and they are certainly a welcome addition to the neighborhood. We lack their favorite food in the Keys, i.e. poisonwood, but they seem to be doing well anyway using various ficus species, pigeon plum and who knows what else.

: I thought that this bird was only in the Keys. I was sitting on my back deck watching my Purple Martins feed their babies, and the pigeon flew down to the bird feeder. It stayed for about 10 to 15mins then took off. Who can help me out.
