My point is/was that most of the birds that were feeding at Sandy Key were not as bright as most that I have seen at the Zoo, Hialeah, Parrot Jungle, etc.. As I recall about 1/3 were immature and there were only 4-5 bright birds in the flock back then (a pic in Sue Jewell's "Exploring Wild South Florida" shows a good bit of the flock from what I can recall).
As a side anecdote DeWitt Ramsey and my Grandfather all talked about nesting Flamingos in the Keys and Everglades about 1917 or so (Grand dad was in the navy and stationed down in Key Wierd during WWI)....
