Trey and I did a morning tour of Lucky Hammock, the Annex, C-111E, and ended at Kendall Indian Hammocks to see what's still around. There was quite a bit of bird activity around Lucky Hammock at dawn. While Trey tried to get closer to a Yellow-breasted Chat to get a photo, I got a brief look at a Bell's Vireo directly across from Lucky Hammock. This may be the same bird seen by Larry Manfredi about a week ago. We had excellent looks at a Least Flycatcher in this area as well. On the west side of Lucky Hammock we had a Traill's type Flycatcher that gave a brief "whit" call and great looks. The bird had almost no eyering and looked slightly greener than the Alder's seen recently. If I had to choose, I'd call it a Willow. We later saw one Alder at the Annex that called. At Lucky Hammock and the area across the road we also had Painted and Indigo Buntings, a few warblers (including several Magnolias), and FOTS House Wren up high in a tree.

At the Annex we saw only a few birds, but added a Waterthrush, the calling Alder, and a Limpkin was standing in the field to the left just before getting to the Annex. The C-111E had no new birds.

We arrived at Kendall Indian Hammocks and heard from some other birders that the Golden-winged and Nashville Warblers hadn't been seen today, and numbers were down. We did add Blackburnian, Chestnut-sided, and Cape May, plus a few other birds. A Philadelphia Vireo was seen before we arrived but we couldn't relocate it. Migration is definitely winding down, but there are still enough birds around to make things interesting. I was hoping for an early sparrow or two, but I guess we have a couple more weeks to wait.
