Parents had two babies out on the pond this morning teaching them how to catch and eat dragonfly nympths. Three red-shouldered hawks flying around made the morning a little harried. Osprey is now in residence and a wood stork cruised over at high altitude. Two great egrets also settled into the pond much to the dismay of the grebes and the people watchers.
The grebes now find shelter on the north side of the pond. They ventured into the middle on two occasions but very cautiously.
