After the rains let up after work I returned to the tree where I saw the Golden-Winged Warbler this morning. Also met 2 other birders looking for it. We never saw it but I did see the following:
Tennessee Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Black-Throated Blue Warbler
Parula Warbler
Black and White Warbler
Swainson's Thrush
Scarlet Tanager
Baltimore Oriole
Cardinal
Gnatcatcher
The above birds were all on the same tree, which seems to have plenty of fruit left.
Also, on my way back to my car, I saw a Loggerhead Shrike with something in its beak. It was the remains of a Black and White Warbler! It placed the remains between two small branches and proceeded to eat the rest of it. Small feathers falling to the ground. When done, it sang a short but pretty song I have never heard from a shrike. Gruesome but cool. Hope it does not get the Golden-Winged.
