We birded KIH yesterday afternoon for about an hour and 20 min. We had multiple numbers of each species except Nashville Warbler, Eastern Wood-pewee, Merlin and Cooper's Hawk. We birded for a little while with Jocelyn right before we left, a Cooper's Hawk flew in and terrorized the place so much that all the birds either moved or stayed still. Most if not all the migrants on our list disappeared right after the Copper's arrival. You have to love predator/prey relationship, a bigger bird comes in to feed and everyone goes indoors or out of sight! Sounds kind of familiar a Hurricane comes and we all scurry indoors. An Eastern Wood-pewee kept us entertained as it would hawk bugs inches from us, it was amazing!

Here is the list:
Double-crested Cormorant
Cattle Egret
White Ibis
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Osprey
Cooper's Hawk
Merlin
Rock Pigeon
Eurasian Collared-Dove
Mourning Dove
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Eastern Wood-Pewee
Eastern Kingbird
Gray Kingbird
Loggerhead Shrike
Yellow-throated Vireo
Blue Jay
Fish Crow
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Swainson's Thrush
Tennessee Warbler
Nashville Warbler
Northern Parula
Yellow-throated Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Northern Cardinal
Common Grackle
Boat-tailed Grackle

Nature is Awesome
