Saturday started off rather rainy and gloomy but that did set the weekend up for an interesting migration event. Saturday we headed to KIH to look for the Golden-winged that Eva and Andy had found earlier in the morning. Then Carlos, Eva, and Andy relocated it and called out the masses. We showed up to find Brian, Rock Jetty, and Trey were already on the bird so we rushed over to the tree and put up our binocs on the first bird we saw. What other bird than a Golden-winged, way too easy. Nashville, Blackburnian and Tennessee Warbler with a Phili Vireo were nice to see at KIH as well. Earlier on in the day we saw a cool variety of birds like Bay-breasted, Magnolia, Black-throated Green, Yellow-throated and Tennessee Warblers. The GWWA just capped off the day, what a beautiful bird!

Sunday we had another Golden-winged Warbler which Mariel found early in the morning at the Cape, then later in the afternoon we all got to see it again, incredible! It was an awesome weekend birding around the county with lots of cool migrants to enjoy!

Two GWWA in one weekend and both males so this definitely called for some celebration, we held our glasses high filled with Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout and Palo Santo Marron to commemorate an awesome weekend birding and spending time with friends.

Nature is Awesome
