Due to a Hands-On Miami event at Doc Thomas House on Saturday, October 11, parking on the Doc Thomas property will not be available for those participating in the carpool trip to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Ft. Myers Beach. Arrangements have been made to provide parking at a nearby church, but spaces will be limited. If you plan to attend this trip and meet at Doc Thomas, but carpool with someone else (my vehicle is now full), I'll lead the group from Doc Thomas to the church parking area before heading to Corkscrew. Once all available spaces at the church are taken, participants will be on their own to find a parking space in the area. It is thus suggested that participants planning to carpool should meet their ride at a location other than Doc Thomas. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.

Our first stop will be the Miccosukee service plaza at I-75 (Alligator Alley) Exit 49. Should you choose to rendezvous with us there, we should arrive at about 7:15 AM. We will then proceed north on Government/Snake Road (CR 833) to Corkscrew, roadside birding as we go. Arrival time at Corkscrew, should you be thinking of meeting us there, will thus be more difficult to predict.
