Waited for the rain to let up in order to go to Metrozoo for some birding. My brother works there and says he has seen plenty of birds lately. Saw the following:

Kestrels (2)
Belted Kingfisher
Moorhen
White Ibis
Great Egret
Great Blue Heron
Osprey
Sacred Ibis
Cattle Egret
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Blue Jay
Mockingbird
Mourning Dove
Collared Dove
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher

I was told by my bro that next to the new Cassowary exhibit (scary-looking bird) is a grove that has plenty of birds. Lots of activity and in fifteen minutes got to see:

Black-Throated Blue W. (male)
Ovenbird
Redstart (f and m)
Yellow-Throated W.
Prairie W.
Parula W.
Black and White W. (abundant throughout the zoo)
Chestnut-Sided W. (female and a lifer!)
Yellow-Throated Vireo
Summer Tanager (f)

Also got a behind-the-scene tour of the aviaries and saw cool african starlings, gonoleks, tinamous, trumpeters, broadbills and tons of cool exotic birds.

Rains started and had to leave.
