The Least Grebe family have moved from their original nest and are across the water on the north side by the softstem bulrushes along the edge. Excellent viewing of their behavior can be had from the dirt road/path along the west side. It would probably be appreciated if the areas of planted grasses near the water's edge aren't trampled down. The parent birds are very vocal and actively feeding the two chicks and possibly constructing a new nest along that side. If you go out to Yamato Scrub be advised there is no shade right at the water area and there are fire ants and lots of sandspurs but it is well worth the trip!
