Yesterday afternoon we visited Castellow Hammock which we missed because we have not been there in while. The place is even better than before! The Hummingbirds are out and about, Warblers still greet you as soon as you get out of the car and the trail is as beautiful as ever. It is always awesome to run into Roger H. he is so knowledgeable. In the oaks at the parking lot there were lots of Warblers and Vireos around. The Hummingbird garden was lively with three Hummers fighting for space. We observed these little guys closely in hopes of something different.
Next we spent some time in the trail which produced some good birds including our target bird, Gray-cheeked Thrush! We had great looks at all three Thrushes that we found. It was nice to observe these birds before they saw us and split. Throughout the trail we saw lots of Warblers and Vireos including a beautiful Yellow-throated Vireo and a Tennessee Warbler.
Before we left we wrote Roger a note about what we had seen, and sat on the bench to see what would show up to the feeders and plants around the garden. The Hummingbirds kept fighting for space, while Jays and Mockers did their thing. An Ovenbird was checking us out from the garden providing us with an opportunity to observe their nervous behavior. It was nice to take some time to enjoy some of the Ovenbirds behavior, they are so cool! Well Roger and the staff have done a great job with the park again, we know that we will be there more often again.

Here is the list:
