Usually domestic turkeys ( as in Thanksgiving dinner) are white and I don't think they can fly. Wild turkeys are gray and dark brown, the males have the large red wattle on their lower mandible ( chin). I would assume they flew in from somewhere and are probably finding food near the nursery. I have certainly seen wild ones along the Turnpike near Fort Drum.
