OKALOOSA COUNTY
A HEERMANN’S GULL in breeding plumage was found in Choctohachee Bay near Destin on Sunday 18th. The gull was refound the next morning on Noriega Point (C. Saleeby & all). Pranty p. 52
There is also a male SHINY COWBIRD at the County Treatment (aka "Mama Rosa") Ponds (L. Duncan & all). Pranty p. 52
FRANKLIN COUNTY
A SHINY COWBIRD was seen at a Feeder at Jack Dozier house in Baldpoint on Friday 16th
VOLUSIA COUNTY
A pelagic trip from Ponce Inlet on Saturday 17th saw the following: one AUDUBON’S SHEARWATER, twenty WILSON’S STORM-PETRELS, one BAND-RUMPED STORM-PETREL, fifty BRIDLED TERNS, three SOOTY TERNS, & four RED-NECKED PHALAROPES (W. Biggs & all).
COLLIER COUNTY
At Eagle Lakes Community Park in Naples a male SHINY COWBIRD was found hanging out with a female Brown-headed Cowbird and many European Starlings and Boat-tailed Grackles in the "closed" soccer field directly off of the parking lot on Wednesday 21st (V. Lucas).
MONROE COUNTY
A singing BAHAMAMA MOCKINGBIRD was found in Marathon on Thursday 22nd and was seen again the next day Friday 23rd. The bird was actively singing in a Sapadilla tree in the side yard of a residence near Sombrero Gulf course in Marathon. The Sapadilla tree has dark green leaves with Tangerine size brown fruit. The bird was singing near the top of this tree, which is on the right side of the house. Directions: Heading down the Florida Keys, enter Marathon; look for a traffic light for Sombrero Beach Road (there are only 2 or 3 traffic lights in Marathon). Turn left here and go about a block, turn right on Sombrero Blvd. Go about another block and turn left on Manor Lane, drive to 1850 Manor Lane. The residence is on the left side of the road; the gulf course is on the right side. Park on the grass across from the residence. Also seen feeding on the gulf course grass, was a male SHINY COWBIRD along with a male and female Brown Headed Cowbird. The cowbirds were seen near the end of Manor Lane. On The 18th two ANTILLEAN NIGHTHAWKS were seen flying over Florida Keys Community
College between 05:30 and 05:50 am, and a pair of ROSEATE TERNS were present at Ft. Zachary Taylor (actually roosting in the adjacent Naval facility) in Key West mixed in with Royal and Sandwich Terns (S. Miller). Pranty p. 258
DRY TORTUGAS
The BLACK NODDY was seen Saturday 17th at 2:15 P.M. on the north coaling docks on Garden Key. The bird was absent in the morning from around 10:30 until 11:45. Observers returned at 2:15 to find the bird present. Also on the 17th, a GULL-BILLED TERN was seen and photographed on the south coaling docks, and A BROWN BOOBY was seen on a buoy near Hospital Key (P. Howard & all). Pranty p. 262
