Today, I went over to Castellow Hammock after my time at the gym and before class. I suddenly decided that I *needed* to see hummingbirds, and, apparently, this is the best spot to see them guaranteed. I was not disappointed, as I found three Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (2 m, 1 f) feeding in the firebushes in front of the nature center and along the edge of the hardwood hammock. Other birds seen before walking the nature trail include Yellow-throated Vireo, White-eyed Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, and many White-winged Dove. Inside the hammock, migrants were not very numerous or at least not very obvious. Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Northern Parula made up the bulk of the numbers, with ones or twos of American Redstart, Ovenbird, Great Crested Flycatcher, and Brown Thrasher mixed in.

Birds of interest:
White-winged Dove (12)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (3)
Great Crested Flycatcher (1)
White-eyed Vireo (2)
Yellow-throated Vireo (2)
Red-eyed Vireo (4)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (7)
Brown Thrasher (2)

Warblers seen (not very many):
Northern Parula (4)
American Redstart (1)
Ovenbird (2)
