I got an email from Brian stating that TAS doesn't contact parks in advance of scheduled birding trips, but I would make that a priority in the future. It's not such a big deal at parks like Castellow Hammock because everyone knows to park outside the gate and walk in if the gate is locked. Still, however, we'd like to know in advance if, for no other reason, that we don't schedule something at the park that might conflict with a birding group. The day that a group showed up at Barnes unannounced last year, it just happened that Natural Areas Management was there that morning for a volunteer workday. Trust me when I tell you this, but birding and chain saws don't go together very well!!!

I'll suggest to Brian that all Miami-Dade Parks are phoned in advance so we can put TAS events on our calendars and be as accommodating as possible. Park staff might even want to join the walks.
