Nancy, thanks for your reply. Did you mean that Boat Tailed Grackle would have stolen the chick from another bird's nest? Was not aware they exibited this type of behavior. have heard Blue Jays will steal chicks though. Just thought the roof of a patio pool screen was a strange place to find a featherless baby bird. It also had no obvious marks of being attacked.
