Today at 2:00 p.m., I found a singing Bahama Mockingbird in Marathon. The
bird was actively singing in a Sapadilla tree in the side yard of a
residence. I went to look for Burrowing Owls at the Sombrero Gulf course in
Marathon; I then heard the faint song of a Bahama Mockingbird in the
distance. I followed the sound until I found the bird. The Sapadilla tree
has dark green leaves with Tangerine size brown fruit. The bird was singing
near the top of this tree, which is on the right side of the house.

Directions:

Heading down the Florida Keys enter Marathon, look for a traffic light for
Sombrero Beach Road (there are only 2 or 3 traffic lights in Marathon).
Turn left here and go about a block, turn right on Sombrero Blvd. Go about
another block and turn left on Manor Lane, drive to 1850 Manor Lane. The
residence is on the left side of the road; the gulf course is on the right
side. Park on the grass across from the residence.

Also seen on feeding on the gulf course grass, was a male Shiny Cowbird
along with a male and female Brown Headed Cowbird. The cowbirds were seen
near the end of Manor Lane.

Please respect the property owners in the area.
