In the afternoon as I was sitting in a chair in my bedroom listening to the football game on the radio, I looked out the window at the Royal Poinciana tree next to the bedroom and saw a a different bird from the usual yardbirds. I grabbed my binoculars and immediately recoginzed a male American Redstart. He stayed in the tree for quite awhile. I then noticed a large black bird fly to a tall palm behind the Royal Poinciana and cling to the trunk. I went outside and there was a Pileated Woodpecker on the trunk. At the same time, on the otherside of the trunk was a Red-bellied Woodpecker. The Pileated Woodpecker stayed on the trunk for several minutes before he flew off. I had not seen a Pileated Woodpecker in several years. Sometimes when you are not even looking for them, they show up.
