17 birders joined me for the TAS walk at Matheson Hammock today. We started birding right in the parking lot, and did pretty well in the picnic area. Although we didn't see the high-profile birds sighted recently, we ended the day with 10 warbler species (Ovenbird, Worm-eating, Common Yellowthroat, Black-and-white, Northern Waterthrush, Yellow-throated, Redstart, Parula, Black-throated Blue, and Prairie). Other birds seen included White-crowned Pigeon, Chimney Swift, Ruby-throated Hummer, 2 Short-tailed Hawks (1 light, 1 dark), Least Flycatcher, about a dozen Great Creasted Flycatchers, Eastern Kingbird, Red-masked Parakeets, Red-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireos, and Summer Tanager.

A large number of Cardinals were also present. Oddly, Hill Mynas were not seen. Yellow-chevroned Parakeets were heard, but not seen.
