I spent this morning/afternoon birding in the Chekika area and encountered nearly 30 species of birds. The highlights were:
Eastern meadowlarks (life bird for me)
Belted kingfishers (first of them I have seen in awhile)
Orchard orioles (2)
Northern waterthrush (several; also life birds)
Prairie warbler (hung out about 12 inches from my camera lens)
Am. Redstart
White eyed vireos
Blue-gray gnatcatchers
These latter birds were all spotted along the overgrown 232 Ave.
There were also quite a few gray kingbirds and at least one Eastern kingbird present within the park.
