I visited Okeeheelee Nature Center this morning and I was totally skunked on migrants. Perhaps it was the steady breeze? Resident birds were present, however.
Can anyone tell me what South Florida habitats migratory songbirds prefer? Do pine flatwoods lack some key ingredient that migrants are seeking? I scanned big live oaks, a ficus that was nearly fruited-out, sabal palms, slash pine, saw palmetto.....nothin'
