I found two Lark Sparrows on the phone wires just south of Lucky Hammock this morning, they posed nicely for a few photos. At the Annex there are at least half a dozen Alder Flycatchers. Many of them calling and in song. There has been a White-tailed Kite about 3-miles north of 9336 on s.w. 224 ave. Look on the south side by the canal berm in the dead trees. There was another White-tailed Kite on the southwest side of the Homestead Airport. Many of these areas are being plowed which may make the birds leave.

The Annex has had Yellow Warblers, American Redstart, Prairie Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Northern Parula, Black-and-white Warbler,Ovenbird, Painted Bunting, Eastern Kingbird and Orchard Orioles.

Click on the link to see photos of the kite and to hear the Alder Flycatcher. The flycatcher is doing part of it's song and a call that is not too often heard at the Annex. The typical call is a "Pip" type call not the one I recorded. You can scroll down my web page for the normal call from previous years.
