Greetings:

Fellow SW Florida birders Vince McGrath & Peter Murphy and I birded portions of Dade Co. today. Near the Everglades Tower Inn on US Rte. 41, there were phenomenal numbers of waders including Wood Stork, Limpkin, Roseate Spoonbill, herons, egrets etc. etc. We also had over 20 Snail Kites in the air at one time including several riding thermals.
From there we went down Krome Ave. to the C-1W Canal area of W. Kendall. We found one molting Blue Grosbeak and a couple of Indigo Buntings as well as a Prairie Warbler. From there we went over to Chekika/ENP. We found a beautiful Cape May Warbler and American Redstart there. Going down SW 232nd Ave., we found a rather late American Kestrel at the infamous "un" wetlands.
Lastly, meeting up with a group of Maryland birders who were on their way to the Dry Tortugas, we found two Smooth-billed Anis at the intersection of Avocado & Redlands.

Good birding.
