I drove out to Belle Glade from WPB today. We passed some flooded sod fields just past the STA-1 West public access point. I have never seen so many Wood Storks, Glossy Ibis and BT Grackles in one place. Probably 50 storks, and hundreds of Glossy Ibis. Also spoonbills, snowys (snowies?) great egrets, swallows, BN stilts throughout the drive. Shorebirds were noticably absent.
One can only imagine the clouds of birds that early visitors to the Everglades must have witnessed.
