Hi there,

Due to several very last minute cancellations, 2 positions are open to work at as raptor observers at a hawk watch in the Florida Keys this fall (from September 15-November 7). The full position announcement is below my signature. This is a fun short-term project in a great location, with nice housing. It's also an excellent opportunity to learn how to identify migrating raptors (and bulk up you birding life list).

I know this is very late notice (the start date is September 15th), but I am in a pinch. I have spoken with some of you already and know that you are already committed to other projects. If you know of anyone that might be available and interested in this position, please pass this email along.

Although September 15 would work as a start date for either position, it is also possible that one of these positions could have a delayed start date as late as October 3.

I have never been this down to the wire before (needing to hire 2 out of 3 crew members this close to the start of the season). If I don t find someone before Wednesday of next week (August 27th), I may have to cancel the field season.

Therefore, if you are interested in this position, or you would like to learn more, please contact me quickly. Feel free to email or call the number below. I already have most of your resumes on hand (since you either applied to me directly or to Greg Kaltenecker of Idaho Bird Observatory).

I hope to hear from some of you soon. The full position announcement is below my signature.

Sincerely,

Casey Lott

A small reimbursement ($150) will be available for travel to the site. A vehicle is recommended for this position. Work-related gas for travel in the Keys will be paid for by the project.
