I picked up 7 tern species today on Crandon Beach. After returning to the Key mid-afternoon and talking to Toe, I started looking through the flocks carefully. Rainsqualls interrupted frequently and visibility was terrible. Here is my list:

Least Tern (30)
Gull-billed Tern (6; Thanks, Toe for the alert.)
Caspian Tern (1 in the morning)
Black Tern (4 in alternate plumage)
Common Tern (2 in alternate plumage)
Royal Tern (60)
Sandwich Tern (8)

Other interesting storm related birds on the beach:

Egyptian Goose (2; probably from Crandon Gardens)
Magnificent Frigatebird (numerous)
Black-bellied Plover (many in alternate plumage)
Wilson's Plover (2)
Semipalmated Plover (numerous)
Piping Plover (7; Toe had more)
Willet
Ruddy Turnstone (some in beautiful alternate plumage)
Red Knot (a nice surprise)
Sanderling (numerous)
Pectoral Sandpiper (I saw remnants of Toe's flock earlier and ~25 came in at 5:30 PM; unusual bird for Crandon)
Dunlin (1)
dowitcher species (2 flocks)

Lesser Black-backed Gull (53; 8 adults)
Great Black-backed Gull (6)
