Coyotes have expanded to most all of the Florida Peninsula. Over here in SW Florida, I've seen several including a pair Alan Murray and I saw in a residential neighborhood a few months ago. They have been predating people's pets here in a very exclusive gated community and the residents freaked out to the point of carrying baseball bats, etc. Private trappers have to be called in because FFWC won't trap them. The trappers caught several. My first live coyote was in about 1992 or 93 in the Panhandle, somewhere near Pensacola. My second one was on Government Rd./Snake Rd. north of the plaza. It was a gimp. Probably got its paw trapped. I've seen a total of five coyotes in Florida in three different counties from up north to down here. They are definitely here to stay and not going anywhere soon. Gotta go prepare for Fay. Supposed to hit my area sometime tomorrow. . . .
