To keep the attention of a 10-year-old, I'd consider either Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area on Key Biscayne (bring your swim suits) or, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary west of Immokalee off of US29 north of Alligator Alley. I'd recommend Everglades National Park but it's pretty buggy right now. A bike or tram ride at Shark Valley might be tolerable, bug-wise.
