On Tuesday, after finding the Horned Lark (thanks, Larry, for training it to stay in the same 20 yard area for 4+ days!) I drove out towards Chekika, getting there just before sundown. On SW168 St just south of 204th Ave, along a gated canal, was a large wader sitting atop a pole. On size and general shape, it appeared to be a stork. It was badly lit, but had a darkish top of the head, white neck, and black wings and body. I saw no indication of leg bands. As I tried to get closer for a photo with a crappy digital camera, it flew off to the northeast, showing a contrasting white rump and tail. The wings were all dark.

After research, I believe the bird was a Wooly-necked Stork, native to Africa and Indo-Asia. As to where it came from....?
